Brody began studying map making while a student at Humboldt State University. Within months, he was presenting custom maps at state and national cartographer conferences. He then began designing business plans, future map projects, and spending countless hours developing it all. After expanding his skills as a GIS / Cartographer for the USDA, Research Cartographer with National Geographic Maps, and other small cartographic firms, Brody launched Cartisan Maps with his close friend Oscar Larson. Brody oversees the development of all custom map products with Cartisan Maps, while managing GIS and database production, map research, and the advancement of cartographic and design tools, with particular interests in educational and tourism map services.

After studying cartography and cultural geography at Humboldt State University, Oscar began concentrating on customer relations, business relations, and convention coordinating before joining Brody in founding Cartisan Maps. Now, Oscar is a prominent creative force driving Cartisan Maps, specifically guiding the business ventures and operational strategy. Oscar applies his skills to custom map production, GIS, research, strategic map initiatives, and integrating cartographic systems.
